The Nightingale is on my TBR list. I love Kristin Hannah's books. Donna Tarte scares me for some reason. I think I just need to try one at this point. Happy reading!
I hope you love The Nightingale! Donna Tartt is a bit overwhelming. To be honest, I didn’t absolutely love The Secret History. She is a talented author though!
Hard SAVE on this as I've never read any of these, though Song of Achilles and A Little Life have both been recommended to me several times.
I read a book this month called Young Mungo (full review next week!) that I completely feel this way about. I would love to read it again to pick up on more nuances and details, but I don't think I can emotionally put myself through it all... at least not for a while!
Also - I'd love a deep dive into how Freida publishes so many books. She always seems to have a new release?! Meanwhile I'm over here struggling with two Substack posts a week 🤣
Loveee these thoughts!! I definitely recommend song of Achilles but trust yourself when it comes to a little life. Not an easy read nor one I think should be quite so in the pop culture. and right?! How? She is a wizard!
Ooh thank you! I definitely have thoughts on it being in pop culture and a BookTok rec - my stepmum has loved it for years and always said I should read it when I’m old enough and/or “feel ready”. I know it’s dark with lots of TWs which just makes me think we shouldn’t really be blanket recommending it?!?!
I have actually only read two (I think?) of her books but The Housemaid had me GAGGED
Ahhh my mum is reading the Nightingale at the moment and I am waiting sooooo impatiently to steal it
I am excited for you!

Yes agree no blanket recommendations! It was brilliantly written though.
And same here!
