Sorry for your losses. Grief cannot be taught; it must be experienced, unfortunately. I’m a UGA alum and my daughter is in her first year there. She was shaken, as well. And the male student who committed suicide at that time was an acquaintance of hers. No way I could have prepared her, but I have assured her I am available to help.

Thank you so much for your kind words. Yes, I had heard about the freshman - truly horrible. I hope your daughter has the best time there! I graduated last May, and it was four of the best years of my life 😊

Were you in Grady College? That's where I earned my Master's (long, long ago). Good luck with your writing!

I actually got a marketing degree from Terry! Looking back, I’d have loved to double major. And thank you!

Loss and grief is such an important part of life. But unfortunately, no one really talks about it much in the west. The concept of death itself isn't really understood by most people, when it happens people are unsure of how to process it, what it means for them and for others. You're right though, no one can really tell someone how to grieve. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you! I definitely agree that it needs to be talked about more.

Loss is such a strange thing. It makes us feel so alone but it’s something that people face every minute, which is hard to wrap my head around because its so individual. I’m sorry that 2024 hasn’t been easy for you so far, but I’m always here, and I’m glad that writing is too.

This is so tender, seriously, I love how you craft words into such moving sentences

Yes it is so individual but also universal at the same time. You always say the nicest things :’) thank you

The bond is different with our non-human animal companions. Much of it has to do with them being unpretentious, without calculation, their natural selves. I have a companion, Arya the cockatiel, whom I love dearly. He is only five, so I can expect many more years with him.

I'm really sorry for your losses, Izzy! That sounds so hard. I agree that both moms and horses are special. I understand how you're also resonating with the loss of the UGA student. Wishing you peace!
