Sometimes I resent books. Sometimes I resent books because they made me think life would be different.

I thought it would be easy to make friends and natural to meet people. I thought things and people would, essentially, come to me when I needed them. I thought getting on a first name basis with the local barista was as easy as showing up a few times.

In books, the character goes out everyday like it’s nothing. They happen to talk to people and meet people who impact their story. Despite the inevitable hardship required for a book, it is relatively easy. It falls into place.
